Lake Ontario Est 1639 T-shirt

Some things have been around long enough not to need a rebrand. Lake Ontario is one of them.

Having exhausted the Gulf of Mexico, the President has now signed an executive order declaring that the large body of water between New York State and, awkwardly, Canada shall henceforth be known as “Lake America”. The lake, which has spent roughly 1,600 cubic miles’ worth of time not caring what it’s called, is understood to be taking the news calmly. Ontario has been rather less calm.

So here’s the Lake Ontario Est 1639 T-shirt, for anyone who’d like to state the position quietly and on their chest. It’s a stylised map of the lake, a single maple leaf, and the words “Est 1639” underneath — the year Europeans first bothered to write the name down, which is roughly 387 years before anyone at the White House thought to overrule it. No slogans, no shouting. Just a lake, a leaf, and a date, worn like a small, polite act of cartographic resistance.

It’s a satirical political T-shirt for the sort of person who thinks geography should probably outlast a news cycle, and who’d rather make the point with a raised eyebrow than a raised voice.
